• Our new Biosolids and Energy Recovery Facility converts organic solids into fertilizer or fuel. Biogas from the process is harnessed to generate energy for the plant.
• Our Energy Storage Project uses a network of high-efficiency batteries to store on-site power at six locations districtwide, saving money and taking demand off the grid.
• Solar power supports several of our facilities, including the Baker Water Treatment Plant, Zone 3 Reservoir, and our Sand Canyon Headquarters.

Public Hearing on Redistricting of the Irvine Ranch Water District Board of Directors Division Boundaries
NOTICE is hereby given that the IRVINE RANCH WATER DISTRICT (IRWD) will hold a public hearing, before drawing a draft map or maps of proposed division boundaries regarding the District’s redistricting process, and the composition of divisions in accordance with Elections Code Section 22001. The purpose of the hearing will be to invite and solicit public comment on the criteria for and the composition of the redistricted divisions.
Election Code Section 22000 requires IRWD to adjust division boundaries after each federal decennial census, and using that census as a basis, adjust the boundaries of its Board of Director divisions so that the divisions are, as far as practicable, equal in population and in compliance with Section 10301 of Title 52 of the United State Code. The Board of Directors of IRWD will hold the hearing on Monday evening, December 13, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter as is reasonably practicable, in the Board Room of the offices of IRWD located at 15600 Sand Canyon Avenue, Irvine.

Kitchen tips for a happy holiday
Looking forward to preparing feasts of rich foods this holiday season? Remember that fats, oils and grease should never be poured down the drain. Collectively referred to as “FOG,” these substances are a leading cause of troublesome clogs and sewage spills.
Here’s how you can help prevent a stopped-up sink from spoiling your celebration:
• Pour used cooking oil and grease into a can, let it cool, and dispose of it in the trash.
• Wipe greasy pots with a paper towel before washing.
• Put all food scraps, coffee grounds, eggshells, dairy products, pasta, rice and flour in the trash or compostable bin.
Remember, it’s not just your drain you’ll be saving! You will also be protecting your local sewer lines.
Don’t waste a good thing
With nearly 90% of the state in the grips of extreme drought, and Southern California now included in the state’s drought emergency, it is critical that we all work together to ensure that California has the water it needs today and into the future.
Irvine Ranch Water District is in good shape — thanks to the ongoing care of our customers to save water, and to their support for the development of innovative water resources that make our community resilient against drought. But water reliability is precariously uncertain in other regions of the state.
Water is a precious resource that should always be used wisely. That’s why we should all do our part to meet the governor’s request for 15% voluntary reductions.
